Have you ever wondered what it is like to be part of a Punjabi festival? Spend some time and join this wonderful celebration of Lohri Fiesta, a bonfire festival celebrated by the Punjabis in Malaysia. Held at Kepong Metropolitan Park, the event is organized by the final year students of The National Academy of Arts Culture & Heritage (ASWARA), Malaysia.
There are plenty of things for you to enjoy during the festival. Stop by the Bazaar to shop for colourful traditional clothes like Kurta or Dupatta, indulge in delicious food, or try out a Henna for yourself! If you are interested to learn more about the Punjabi culture, you can check out the Lohri Exhibition to find interesting displays on its history, traditions, and culture. Bringing kids along? Register them to join the Kite Competition, which is open for children aged 12 years old and below.
Not only that, the Lohri Fiesta also offers exciting performances at night where you can watch for free. There will be a lovely Lohri song performance, as well as two popular traditional dance shows namely the Bhangra and Giddha Dance. Originated from Punjab region in the Indian subcontinent, the Bhangra folk dance is lively and energetic. Meanwhile, Giddha is a lovely traditional dance performed by the ladies. The highlight would be a ritual of throwing sesame seeds into the bonfire as the flames leap up, creating a wonderful vibe that ends the night.

This event will be held at Taman Metropolitan Kepong. You can get to Taman Tasik Metropolitan Kepong by Bus, Train or Metro. These are the lines and routes that have stops nearby - Train: 1; Bus: 152, DTS 4.
By car, you can drive along the MRR2 Highway and it is located next to Kepong exit. If you are coming by train, there are two KTM stations nearby which is Kepong station and Kepong Sentral station. From there, you will need to take a cab to reach the park. There are also RapidKL and Metrobus buses operating to and fro the park. The easiest way to reach here is by taxi or you could also use a ride hailing app.
