Mah Meri Cultural Village or as the locals call it as Kampung Orang Asli is a village located in Carey Islands, Selangor. The village was also turned into an educational site as well as a tourism attraction for visitors to learn more about the Mah Meri subgroup. The Mah Meri people is a unique tribe of people who are living along the coast of south Selangor, from Pelek River up to Carey Islands. The Mah Meri subgroup is also one of the 18 Orang Asli groups named by the Malaysian government.
Here in Mah Meri Cultural Village, you will also get to meet some actual Mah Meri people who still lives there. The Mah Meri people, meaning jungle people in their language is famous for their woodcarving skills and also expressive masks worn during rituals to represent their ancestral spirits. There is also a museum where tourists can find more information on the unique and interesting myths, traditions, local legends and artwork displays related to the Mah Meri tribe.
Apart from that, a visit to Mah Meri Cultural Village will also let you see an actual traditional handicraft making process. The villagers there will demonstrate how they weave an origami used to decorate houses or according to Mah Meri belief, they are used to please the spirits. There are also dance performances by the villagers in which tourists can join in and experience a little bit of the cultural entertainment!

Besides that, traditional ceremonies like marital rituals will also be demonstrated there.

Most affordable option is to drive to Pulau Carey or Carey Islands yourself which is about a 40 minutes drive from Port Klang in Selangor. If you do not want to drive, there are also tour packages available with the minimum of 2 people which includes transportation transfer from your place of stay. Enquire an arrangement with the admin. Besides that, one can also choose to hire a return ride by taxi from Klang to Carey Islands which will cost from RM 100.

- On weekdays, Mah Meri Cultural Village only accepts visitors who made prior booking arrangements. If you wish to visit here from Monday to Friday, it is best to call and book an appointment before making a trip there as the villagers might not always be around.
- Mah Meri Cultural Village opens from 10am - 6pm on the weekends. They are also open on some festive seasons or public holidays.
- If you are going for a guided tour or interested to arrange a group tour, enquire more about the tour packages offered here.
- Besides exploring the different cultures of the Mah Meri group at Mah Meri Cultural Village, you can also rent rickety bikes which cost RM15 per hour to better explore other activities on the island like watching the sunset, visiting a shrine and so on.
