Owned by two Japanese brothers, this cafe located the middle of a well-maintained area of rice paddy fields. It’s truly a peaceful experience to walk through the beautiful rice paddy path while enjoying a breath of fresh air. On clear mornings, you will be amazed by the 360 nature view that you can witness here in this cafe. From here, you can even see the famous Mount Agung, a volcanic mountain known to Bali.
Choosing the right place to sit here is definitely important to ensure that you get the best views and experience dining with nature to the fullest. Choose the seats at the corners of this cafe so you can enjoy a great sunset view overlooking the panoramic paddy field. Visitors will experience a totally different ambience here at night while dining in nature as there will be sightings of fireflies and night starts which makes it perfect for a date night as well.
As for the menu, they offer a mix of Italian and Asian cuisine. Otherwise, make your way to visit Bali’s oldest art museum, the Puri Lukisan Museum which is also 1km away. Here, you can see many cultural paintings and wood carvings that are unique to the island of Bali.

Head yourself to main road of Jalan Ubud or if you come from Ubud central or Ubud Traditional Market and Museum Puri Lukisan will be your closest landmark. It will be on your right hand side and the road to enter the paddy path will be on your right too. Just go straight ahead until you see the Circle K mini mart on your left and continue for 100 metres until you find a high steep road on your right. Go up and ask the local for the correct route to get to Cafe Pomegranate. You will need to walk around 500 meters from the road to get here.
The closest you can get to this cafe is using motorbike but you still have to park it as soon as the road gets steep and you will still need to walk halfway as there is no proper route for a bike to go up. If you come here by taxi, they will drop you by the roadside and you will need to walk up to the paddy field area. Still, it’s best to explore this journey by foot.

- As you enter, you will need to remove your shoes or sandals, just like how you enter any Asian home.
- If you get here by a rental motorbike, you need to park the bike half way but it could be dangerous as there is no proper parking space provided.
- There are few cafes around here with almost the same concept, but Cafe Pomegranate offers the best experience and exquisite cafe interior.
- To avoid the uncomfort of muddy shoes, it’s best if you wear sandals for your trip here. Plus, this cafe will require you to enter the area barefoot.
- Reservation is advisable so that you get the best spot, especially if you wish to view the sunset here and enjoy your early dinner.
- Bring a flashlight for safety purposes if you are coming here at night. There is no street lights that will guide you to enter this paddy field area.
