Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is set in a huge area, with 250 hectares of land that is located on the south of Bali. The beautiful park is dedicated to honour the value of art, cultural, and spiritual aspects of the Bali island. Despite being still under construction the gigantic sculpture of a 145m tall statue of a Vishnu riding on the back of a Garuda still remains to be Bali’s landmark and point of interest.
The name itself symbolises culture as Garuda was a Hindu mythical bird, Wisnu is the Indonesian word for Vishnu and Kencana means carriage. Keep an eye on the huge monument if you are in areas nearby as it can be seen from areas as far as 20km from Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park. From Kuta, it takes 20 minutes to get here. It is possible to navigate your way here using a GPS if you are renting a motorcycle or car. Otherwise, you can take the cab. You can also use similar route to get from Jimbaran to Uluwatu and Dreamland Beach.

- Nearby the statue of Lord Vishnu, visit the sacred spring of Parahyangan Somaka Giri. The water is believed to cure diseases and also used for rainmaking ritual.
- You can watch traditional Balinese performance at the Amphitheatre. There is a daily parade in the park area and some performances are not available daily. Be sure to check their performances schedule so you won’t miss out.
- Check the park’s event calendar to plan your trip here. If you are lucky enough, you will get to experience amazing cultural events as well as concerts held at the park.
