Situated in a restored 19th century mission school, Singapore Art Museum is the first art museum in Singapore established in 1996. Today, it houses a wide public collection of contemporary art pieces curated from Southeast Asia. It also hosts various exhibitions throughout the year and features a wide variety of art forms. Collaborations with international art museums are frequent with co-curated contemporary art exhibitions and these are all situated in its unique building with conserved architectural masterpiece.
While you are here, it is also worth exploring SAM at 8Q - an annexe building of Singapore Art Museum which is just across the road from the main museum. Featuring contemporary art exhibitions and a Moving Image Gallery with film screenings, SAM at 8Q houses a combination of fun-filled art activities that are suitable for the whole family.

There are no public parking facilities here should you are driving here with your own transportation. However, the museum is easily accessible via MRT. Easily get off Bras Basah station and take a 2-minute walk to Singapore Art Museum. The museum is also a 10-minute walk from other MRT stations including Bugis, Dhoby Ghaut and City Hall.

- As of March 2018, the main building of the Singapore Art Museum at 71 Bras Basah Road is currently closed for refurbishment. SAM at 8Q continues to host museum exhibitions and programmes at the annexe building located at 8 Queen Street, Singapore 188535.
- Do check the official website for the latest information on their opening hours before heading over as the museum may be closed to change exhibits. Guided tours are free as part of the admission fee. Do check the website for information on the time of these tours.
- Some areas of the museum may only be for adults viewing. However, there are many other exhibits that children can engage with especially at SAM at 8Q.
- Tickets can be purchased from the Information & Ticketing counter at SAM at 8Q or from APACTIX.
- It is best to download or purchase activity sheets from the official website and immerse in a critical and thought-provoking contemporary art learning experience suitable for the whole family!
- Although the museum is open daily until 7.00 pm, the last admission is only until 6.15 pm.
- Admission is free for Singaporeans, permanent residents and all children under 6. There will also be free entry for all to SAM at 8Q every Friday from 6pm - 9pm and on SAM Open House days.
- Entrance ticket to Singapore Art Museum for tourists is priced at S$6 per adult, S$3 per student with valid student pass and S$3 per senior citizen.
- For groups of 20 pax or more, there will be an additional discount of 20% for admission tickets.
