STPI-Creative Workshop & Gallery, Singapore (formerly known as Singapore Tyler Print Institute) is a contemporary art gallery and creative workshop space that encourages artistic experimentation with print and papermaking technology. Being a non-profit art organisation, it is one of the organisations which support the growth of the nation’s artistic landscape as it positions itself to be a contemporary art hub.
Housed in a 19th century warehouse beside the Singapore River, it contains specialised printmaking presses and equipment, a paper mill, 400-square metre gallery, guest workshop, artist studio, artist apartments, staff offices and The Corner Shop, a retail space offering products made by artists and STPI collaborators.
STPI’s state-of-the-art facilities are tailored for print and papermaking artistic experimentation, as well as encouraging artists to stay and create art. As a result, artist collaborations are frequent, with over 90 artists all around the world creating art within its walls.
Meanwhile there are also free guided tours for the public whereby Friends of Museums docent volunteers will explain the exhibits and process behind the creations. Through the guided tour, visitors will be able to better understand and appreciate the creative process behind the creation of these artworks, besides gaining an invaluable experience of visiting this unique art creation platform. At the end of the tour, expect to bring home a paradigm shift about the artistic use of print and paper!

- The institute hosts special hands-on programmes once in a while. The Open House happens once a year, featuring activities such as making paper from cotton pulp and hands-on activities with printing methods ie lithography, copper plate etching, screen printing.
- Chat with the friendly staff throughout your visit-they are more than happy to be able to answer your questions.
- Do not miss the fun of engaging with print and papermaking methods with guidance from the institute’s experts!
- The institute has several programmes for artists and non-artists alike. The main programme is the creative workshop for artists, exposing artists to various print and papermaking methods and to encourage subsequent experimentation.
- Artists are encouraged to join the STPI Creative Workshop, a platform to experiment with print and papermaking methods (relief print, intaglio, lithography, screen print, paper making).
- Before leaving, remember to stop by The Corner Shop @ STPI to bring home unique artistic products, from artworks produced by artists in collaboration with the STPI Creative Workshop, to STPI merchandise, bargain magazines and scholarly art catalogues.
