Gunung Angsi is one of Malaysia’s relatively minor mountains with a height of 824 meters or 2702 ft. It ranks 241st in Malaysia’s highest mountain and it is the 3rd highest peak in Negeri Sembilan state, after Gunung Datuk and Bukit Bintongan. The mountain’s short distance from Kuala Lumpur makes it a popular mountain climbing spot.
Climbing Gunung Angsi takes around 3 hours to go up and somewhat less coming down making it a duable half day excursion. You need to register at the park ranger’s office before starting your ascent and pay nominal fee of RM5 per person. The ranger’s will not allow you to start the climb if you arrive after 11:00 am.
The trail starts by following alongside the stream at first. Eventually, the path moves away from the stream and there is a long, steep and tiring section along a ridge of the hill. The path is well defined most of the way. There are one or two places where you could take a wrong turn, so look out for the red and white striped pieces of plastic marker tape which have been tied to the stress. As you hike, you will notice various vegetation and insect life such as larger spiders, centipedes and exotic looking fungus.

Insiders’ tips
Insiders’ tips
We recommend to start the hike early in the morning as it gets quite hot and humid later in the day. On cool days expect a cool, beautiful climb through the mist. Also bring plenty of water as it will be a very hot and sweaty hike as there is very little wind. 3 or 4 liters of water should be sufficient for the trip.
