The Upside Down House is a unique exhibition space within Malacca City, where visitors can step into an inverted version of a modern Malaysian house. Set within a two-storey shophouse, the gallery is divided into a few spaces just like an actual house, but literally inverted.
There are living room, kitchen, playroom, master bedroom and bathroom. All of this rooms are fitted with air-conditioning, properly designed interior and life-sized furniture which is firmly screwed to the ceiling. Stepping into the house can be quite disorientating at first but it’s a great place for snapping unique pictures thanks to its vibrant background and array of gravity defying props.

Upside Down House Gallery is just a 5 minute walk from Menara Taming Sari. From Malacca town, it is just a 10 minute drive. From Ayer Keroh, it will take you approximately 35 minutes.

- Shoes have to be taken off before entering, like any normal house in Malaysia.
- To see the effects of the inverted house, be sure to rotate your photos before you share them.
- Don’t worry if you do not know how to pose or having a problem of someone taking a photo of you. The staffs here are very friendly and is willing to help you.
- Do not rush the visit. Look at the hints of the house and have a laugh.
- If you come during days that do not have much crowd, make sure you wear something warm as the air conditioner here can be really cold.
