Floating in the sparkling turquoise waters just off Lombok’s southwest coast will let you have a dreamy adventure. Containing thirteen small islands called the Southwest Gilis, this large group of uninhabited islands are called the Secret Islands because they are yet to be discovered by most travellers. The Sekotong region starts just south of Lembar Harbour and features stunning beaches with bays set against a backdrop of rolling hills.
Your island hopping tour will start from Sekotong Beach and off to other lesser known Gili Islands that are famous among avid divers and snorkelers who fancy untouched beauty of coral reefs and marine creatures. The islands' white sandy beaches and laid back atmosphere brings the Robinson Crusoe feeling for travellers looking for a day on tropical desert islands. Dive in the abundant coral reefs lay just below the surface waiting to be explored, filled with thousands of brightly coloured tropical fish, huge sprawling blue starfish and magical turtles gently gliding through the water.
Sekotong Island Hopping Tour starts by visiting three lovely islands of Gili Nanggu, Gili Tangkong and Gili Sudat. The islands' ocean is scintillating with a good reef just offshore, great for snorkelling and diving. The largest of the islands in the Sekotong is Gili Gede, with an area large enough to provide a range of activities such as hiking to the hills in the centre for fantastic views across the other islands, exploring deserted beaches, conquering hidden coves and meeting friendly locals living on the island. The Sekotong tour offers unspoilt tourism beauty and you can also find a pearl and oyster farm hidden in the interesting island of Gili Gede.
A full tour which may take up to 4 days will also cover Gili Genting as part of the itinerary in Sekotong Island Hopping Tour. Sitting just off the tip of the peninsular and at low tide, you can walk across the sandbar to explore this uninhabited island. Old volcanic rocks and stone carved from centuries of tidal flow create small caves and alcoves, providing shelter for family and friends to enjoy a relaxing picnic as well.
Gili Rengit and Gili Layar also offer another chance for snorkelling where one can see bright blue starfish drape themselves across patches of coral. Discover bright yellow and black Moorish Idols dart through the water as well of a school of hundreds small iridescent fishes that swim past and weirdly shaped squid drift by in the deeper areas. As you explore the Sekotong Island Hopping Tour by going to Gili Asahan and Gili Poh, you will find a different environment here where hard purple and red coral reefs mark the territory of these two islands as you compete to swim along a group of other interesting marine creatures.
