Located just by the stunning Taiping Lake Gardens, the Taiping Zoo is just a stone’s throw away from the centre of town and spans an area of 34 acres with over 1300 animals from various species.The Night Safari is unique as Taiping Zoo is the first to do it in the country and uses a unique moonlight lighting system which makes it clearer for visitors to view the nocturnal animals up close.
The tram rides take you throughout the zoo where you can relax and enjoy looking at the animals as well as their nighttime behavior. This gives you a unique insight into your favorite creatures in a whole new setting. Keep your eyes open to witness sightings of animals such as the Malayan tiger, lions, siamang, deers, tapirs and black panthers!

- If you opt to walk along instead of using the tram, use a flashlight to check the ground where you are walking to avoid tripping as it is very dark.
- During the tram ride, stay inside the vehicle at all times and obey all the instructions of the tram driver.

- You may bring your cameras to take photographs but kindly note that you are strictly not allowed to take flash photography or use torchlights during the safari as it will disturb the animals on display.
- Arrive at the departure point slightly before 8 PM so you can be first in line for the tram rides! The queue can be up to 15 minutes at a point so it pays to come early.
- If you arrive at the zoo before 6 PM, you’re allowed to stay in the zoo till 8 PM for the night safari. Arriving after 6 PM does not permit you entrance to the zoo and you’ll have to wait till 8 PM.
- A night vision function on your camera would help a lot with viewing the animals as most of the safari route is kept as dark as possible.
- Try to avoid visiting the night safari during the Malaysian school holidays as there will be a greater number of people visiting.
- On Saturday nights and eve of public holidays, the night safari is open from 8pm - 12am.
