The Marina Barrage is a multifunctional reservoir. It is the nation’s 15th reservoir, and the first to be built in the heart of the city. Bringing the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s (the first Prime Minister of Singapore) vision of damming Marina Channel’s mouth for a freshwater reservoir to life, the Marina Barrage is the island’s largest and most urbanised reservoir.
The Green Roof is part of the attractive features of Marina Barrage where you can enjoy a great picnic session. Besides providing a pleasant place to enjoy recreational activities, this large rooftop garden also provides natural heat insulation for the building with the grass and soil absorbing heat from the sun.
Strategically placed in the Marina Bay area, the Green Roof is the perfect place to have a picnic while enjoying a good view overlooking the Marina Bay Sands and the city’s skyline. Kite-flying is a common activity carried out here-enjoy the vibrant colours flying in the sky or have a go at kite-flying yourself! You can also choose to enjoy a picnic at night, under the stars as the glimmering city view beckons.
