This petite neighborhood is full of history and very famed by silver shops, making it a worthwhile discovery for travellers seeking for some walking around in Jogja city. As you walk the streets of Kota Gede or Old Town Yogyakarta, expect to find plenty of authentic remains from Mataram Kingdom here like in things like its architecture, unique tombs, traditional outfit, religious sites and silver workshops left here.
There is also a traditional market located in the heart of Kota Gede selling fresh produces such as coconut, dry fish, tofu and many more where you can your hands on if you are planning to cook during your stay.
