Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo is a large sand dune that looks exactly like a hill. This natural phenomenon occured as a result of the wind movement in this area. Most adventurers and travellers come here to try sandboarding as well as getting photography opportunities. - Use a safety helmet, hand gloves and knee guides if possible to avoid any injury.

- Entrance to Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo is free where you can explore and take some photos around the area. However, if you wish to go sandboarding, you need to rent the sandboard which starts from IDR 100,000.
- Parking fee costs an extra IDR 2,000 if you are coming here with a private vehicle.
- Sandboarding in Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo is only possible between March to October. The best time to go for sandboarding here is around mid June to September when the sands are dry. Rainy season seems impossible due to the wet sands.
- To avoid the scorching hot sun, visit in the morning before 10am or later in the afternoon around 4pm.
- Sandboarding can be a bit messy. Don't forget to bring another set of extra clothes if you are a clean freak!
- There's no shelter and you will pay about IDR 2,000 to use the toilets. The toilets are not really in top condition.
- You have to pay attention to your kids, just like anywhere else. The area is huge, free for them to run and play around but do keep a lookout for them!
- Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo is also favoured as a photography spot due to the desert-like scenery. There are areas where you can enter for photography at an additional charge.
