Established in 1993, the aptly named Cat Museum in Kuching is fitting for the city as ‘kucing’ in Malay is the word for ‘cat’. The museum has a unique theme as it is dedicated to every single thing related to cats! The most favored house pet in Malaysia are cats and if you are a cat lover, you will enjoy your time over here perusing the 4000 unique exhibits and artifacts.
Some highlights you can find in the museum include an actual Egyptian mummified cat as well as the only stuffed specimen of the rarest cat in the world, Felis Badia. The most convenient way to reach the Cat Museum is by using the Petra Jaya Transport bus # 2B or # 2C from anywhere in the city. Besides that, you can also use the ride-sharing services in Kuching, namely GrabCar and Uber. Make sure the driver drops you off at the museum entrance or else you’ll have to walk yourself up the 60m hill!

- There aren't any live cats or cat cafes here so if you’re looking to pet a few kitties you shouldn’t come here as it has only exhibits.
- Entrance to the museum is free. However, a small fee of RM3 will be charged if you wish to use a phone camera, RM4 for a digital camera or RM5 for a video camera.
- Don’t get confused with the location if you are going there by yourself or while using a GPS. The Cat Museum is located on the ground floor of Kuching North City Hall HQ Building, and not a museum building of its own.
