The capital village of Pulau Tioman is Tekek. Tekek is known as a town as there are several urban infrastructure that includes retail shops, bank, highway, an airport, marina and a jetty complex. Tekek is popular as a tourist attraction even though it lacks the rural charm, coral reefs and the greenery of smaller villages. Only in Tekek you can get duty-free goods.

Not like the other village, Tekek offers jungle trekking as well. Pulau Tioman is still conserve by the covers of heavy vines and trees. The jungle of Tioman covers more than half of the island. It is a wonderful joy for tourist to experience some taste of adventure in the wilderness. Tekek to Juara jungle trek is a walk that test your stamina and pump up your adrenaline rush. It is a 7km long island walk that can take around 2 to 2 and a half hours.

If you are planning to go for the jungle trekking in Tekek, make sure you wear proper attire. Do not go trekking in your flip flops. Wear a t-shirt with long pants to avoid yourself from getting bitten by mosquito. Do not wear bikinis or beach shorts. To look for a jungle guide, you can see a lot of them along the way or you can ask the local people in Tekek to guide you. Don’t forget to tip them!
