The route to Karang Balau is located on the north side of Kampung Juara. Just follow the road, cross a freshwater stream and spot the fated roped track that will lead you on a steep scramble to the crag. The rocks here are excellent and all bolts looks very recent and in good conditions since 2013.
What to bring?

- Bring along your own water of bottle just in case you get really thirsty along the hike.
- Bring your own gloves if you prefer it as rock climbing can roughen up your hands.
- If you are scared that you might injure yourself, wear protected knee and elbow guards.

The only thing that is provided along your climb is the bolts to ease your way up as you climb.

This activity is recommended if you are really fit and have experienced rock climbing in an indoor gym. Rock climbing in Karang Balau requires physical strength, endurance and mental strength as it is very challenging. Make sure you are really prepared so that you won’t loose caution on your way up.

- The rock seeps can get really wet for a long time after rain, so best to visit when it has been dry for a while.
- There is a hornet nest in the jungle on the far right. Be careful and watch where you stand and put your hands at.
- When you cross the freshwater, always remember that sometimes it can get high tide and might have to swim a little as the water can reach 2+ meters high.
