Juara Turtle Project is a non-government organization that is in Kampung Juara in Pulau Tioman. It is a people project that has been on going since 2015. Their mission is to develop high considerate practice regarding sea turtles and the environment in and around Kampung Juara and Pulau Tioman.

Besides going for the day tour, you can also be a volunteer here. They accept volunteers from mid-March until the end of October all year but there are also activities and things to help out all year round. The require the volunteers to have a minimum up to 4 nights stay or at least a week. It’ll be even more better if you could volunteer for a month or more!

Bringing back turtles or their eggs is definitely a no-no, but what you can bring back if you plan to volunteer or just be there for a day tour us the awareness and education about how important it is to preserve the turtle sanctuary. You will get to understand better on how to protect the turtle’s nests and eggs, the habitat protection and how large nets can damage these turtles lives.

Getting around
Take a ferry ride and stop at Kampung Tekek. From Kampung Tekek, get a taxi that will most probably charge you RM30 to RM60 per person. If you want an adventure and save up on your money, you can always jungle trek for 2 hours straight to Kampung Juara.
