- Although many have mentioned that it is easy to hike Mount Papandayan, it still requires certain strengths and stamina to do so. If you are feeling tired, take a short break to regain your energy.
- Do not hike wearing inappropriate footwear such as sandals, you will need a good grip to hike along the muddy areas and also the rocks.
- Check the weather prior to making a hiking trip here to avoid going up Mount Papandayan during rainy season. The trails might be slippery and dangerous.
- Do not ever hike alone or wander away from the group alone, it is extremely dangerous as other people might not be able to locate you in case of any accidents or emergencies.

- Restaurants or the smaller food stalls are mostly not open during weekdays, so it is also wise to prepare some snacks or beverages on your own before your hike there.
- If you have not trek Mount Papandayan before, you can choose to hire a guide to help you up. But be aware as some of them do ask for very high fees so it is also wise to bargain a little.
- Since it is still an active volcano, you can actually smell sulfur when you are there. Hence, if you cannot stand the smell, it is recommended to bring along a face masks.
- There are other interesting sceneries along the trails as well such as the craters which still emit gas as it is still an active volcano. Most people just take pictures and leave the craters as the smell of sulfur is still pretty strong there.
- If you are planning to camp there, it is advisable to bring simple to cooked meals or instant food there as it will be more convenient.
- If you hike during the month of June to August, you will be able to experience the stunning view of the edelweiss bloom.
- You can hire a guide at an additional IDR 250,000 per day to accompany your hiking trip. Porters are also available upon request to carry your outdoor equipments.
- Car entrance fee to park your car here is charged at IDR 200,000 per car.
