The Terengganu State Museum is known as the biggest museum in Malaysia with a vast floor area of over 75,000 square meters spread over 4 interconnected buildings. Meaning that, you will spend plenty of time here to learn about historic events in Terengganu. The concept of this building is based on the design of an old palace. Located on 27 hectares area of land in Bukit Losong, you will notice this majestic building’s impressive traditional design from afar.
There areas of this museum is separated into a few dedicated sections of different exhibits. In the Main Museum, you can find the gallery showcases art and lifestyle displays such as local fabrics, textiles, crafts, royalty attire, traditional weapons and weaving equipments. Other museums in this area are the Maritime Museum and Fisheries Museum. Not just that, you can also visit the 4 traditional houses and a botanic and herb gardens located in the museum area.

Other than taking a taxi or use ride sharing app to get here, you can also take a museum bus from MBKT Bus Station (RM0.60 per pax). If you go on the traditional boat cruise along Terengganu River, you can stop at the Terengganu State Museum too.

- Visitors are recommended to visit the small boat collection that is located outdoor.
- Avoid coming here during peak season especially school holidays.
- Some parts of the building are not air-conditioned, so if you cannot stand the heat, avoid coming here during the afternoon.
- Do not miss to visit the famous Batu Bersurat located at the main entrance. It is a good point to start off your tour in the museum too.
- Entrance fee for Malaysians: RM 5 (Adult) / RM2 (Children) and for foreigners RM12 (Adult) / RM10 (Children)
- Do enquire your hotel or the place you stay if they can arrange for a town tour in Kuala Terengganu which will usually include a visit to this museum.
- On Fridays, the museum is closed from 12pm and reopens at 3pm due to Friday prayer break
