The building has served as the residence for the Royal family of Kelantan up to year 1961 before it was established as a museum in 1991. Most visitors would say that this museum gives a personal insight to the actual lives of the Kelantanese royalties and their social activities. Exhibits of their actual belongings were also displayed.
The unique thing about this museum is that it has its own way in telling the story of Kelantan. The museum belonged to the late Sultan Ismail. As you enter this museum, you can learn and imagine yourself living in his shoes. The history will recall all the stories and you can experience living in his royalty times.
The well-maintained museum is divided into several parts such as the entrance, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, drawing room and hallway. Here, plenty of antiques and actual exhibits are displayed which are dated back to hundreds of years ago. Some of them including displays of the royal robes, an antique silver tea kettle and a variety of weapons such as swords and guns.
