Occupying about 4000 square meter, Sanggar Agung Temple or Hong San Tang Temple is dedicated to the Chinese deities and other famous religious icons in Asia. Aside the serenity and the breathtaking sea view, you will be greeted by the biggest four-faced Buddha in the world. At the waterfront stood a memorial archway with a statue of Guan Yin at the high top and two dragons twisting below.
Located in Sukolilo Street of Kenjeran Beach, the buildings of Sanggar Agung Temple is separated in two parts. The first part is Sanggar Agung Chinese Temple with a statue of Goddess of Mercy built with a height of 20m placed on the seafront. The second part of this temple showcases the famous Four Faced Buddha Statue or locally known as Patung Brahma 4 Rupa, complete with a dome at a height of 36m. Travellers will be welcomed with bright red atmosphere and impressive Balinese architecture, complete with carvings as well as two huge statues at the entrance.
Once you enter the temple, you will get to see an altar built in honor of the ancestors. This altar is meant to remember the Chinese ancestors who have died. On the inside, the area at the back of this temple is outstandingly amazing to explore to see the great goddess of Kwan Im Po Sat statue and four statues of the guardians, which is one of them is Kwan Kong, the god of war. There are also two dragons statue over the goddess and the guardians that look strong and firm in 6m long. Sanggar Agung Temple is located inside Kenjeran Beach Park which is 10km away from Surabaya city center. Make Kenjeran Beach as your landmark and you won’t be lost as the temple is relatively easy to find although it is out of town. There is no convenient public transportation aside from taxis available from the city center to get here. Alternatively, rent a private vehicle such as motorcycle and get there by navigating it or get a car with a driver to bring you around.

- Getting into Sanggar Agung Temple is free of charge. However, visitors must pay an entrance fee to the complex of Kenjeran Beach Park which houses this Sanggar Agung Temple.
- Pay for the parking fee if you are driving here at the entrance. Otherwise, you will have to trek for about half an hour from the gate to reach this temple.
- The place is calm but can be very crowded if there is cultural celebrations. Check out the Indonesian calendar if you wish to avoid coming here during its peak season.
