- Do not wander off alone even if you are familiar with the trails as you might not be able to get help in time should anything happen to you, so always go in pairs.
- Do double check on your safety gears before you head up to the mountains as you might not be able to get the gears you need on once you hike up the mountain.
- Should there be any sort of emergencies, there are 9 campsites available throughout the hike up so one can seek help or just rest for a while at these campsite.
- You will need to first hike through the rainforest before heading up to the mountain, and there you might find thorns and spines when you try to maneuver through the thick bushes or forest trails. So do not be alarmed to find yourself being pricked most of the time.
- Do not hike up during monsoon season as the poor weather might interrupt a smooth journey.

- Some of the best months to head up to Mount Raung is in between May to August. Plan ahead if you want to fully enjoy the panoramic view here as these months are during peak season.
- Do be prepared not be able to shower for days if you are planning to camp there at Mount Raung as public facilities like toilets and running water won’t be available there.
- There are two main routes available heading up to the peak of Mount Raung, one being the Kalibiru route and the other known as the Glenmore route.
- The Glenmore route is deemed the harder and longer route to the peak so do plan carefully with your team by taking into consideration of everyone’s experience and stamina.
- If you wish to stay nearer to the mountain for your hiking trip, there are accommodation options at Sumber Waringin Village. For more options, find a place in Ijen area.
