Ampel Mosque is the oldest mosque in East Java, Surabaya, Indonesia which was built in year 1421 by Sunan Ampel. His burial ground is also situated within the vicinity of the mosque. Ampel Mosque is located in the Ampel sub-district in Semampir, at Kota Surabaya. It takes approximately 20 minutes by car from central Surabaya to get here. One can get to the mosque via public transportation such as buses or taxi.

- As the mosque is a holy ground, visitors are expected to wear decent covered clothing as a sign of respect to its religious culture. Bring along scarves or cloths to cover your legs and heads (women).
- This mosque is famous within the neighbourhood so there should be no problem locating this landmark. Do bring along your camera or phones to capture the beauty of this historical landmark.
- Do also respect the place and its holy ground, so do not speak loudly inside the mosque as it might disturb others who are praying.
- Apart from traders selling dates, clothes and other items such as clothes, there are also free drinking water available all around the mosque area so do have a look out for that when you are there.
- At Arab Market, you can find many hawker stalls and even small tents set up after sunset serving you a wide variety of middle eastern cuisine ranging from the popular kebabs, curries, satays to even the unconventional western cuisine like pizzas.
- If you are driving there, the parking area may be a little confusing so make sure you ask around if you are unsure and also make sure you have a spare set of car keys and park at an area that is guarded by security.
