At a height of 30 metres, it has managed to churn out over 650,000 barrels of oil to date.The Grand Old Lady is credited to have sparked the development of Miri, transforming it from a sleepy fishing village to a booming industrial area. It is now a designated state monument due to its historical significance and there is also a Petroleum Museum nearby where you can learn more about the history of the Grand Old Lady.

There are no public bus services to the monument. You could opt to hire a taxi from the city centre to bring you to the Grand Old Lady. Just be sure to ask them to wait for you till you’re done otherwise it may be difficult to find another taxi on top of the hill.
