Strategically tucked away on the edge of the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, the Rainforest Discovery Center (RDC) is just half hour away from the town of Sandakan and mere minutes from the famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. The RDC serves as one of Sabah’s main Environmental Education centres focusing on educating and raising awareness to the public about the unique features and importance of the Borneo rainforest.
The Canopy Walk allows you to get a great perspective of the forest from the treetops as it is about 28m off the ground and spans about 347m long. The three main towers along the canopy walk are ideal for birdwatchers as they provide an amazing viewpoint.
Furthermore, the RDC also has 3 acres of a Plant Discovery Garden which has special displays on hybrid orchids, aquatic plants, arid land plants along with informative panels for you to learn more. The Rainforest Discovery Trails also branch off into the forest where you can have a stroll while learning about the attributes and inhabitants of this forest.
