There are no direct flights to Salawati Island from any major cities. Salawati Island is easily accessible via speedboat from other islands around Raja Ampat and major cities. To get there, one has to stop by Sorong. Once there, you can get to Salawati Island via speedboat which might take up to 2 hours.

- If you are planning to visit Salawati Island, be sure to make sufficient snacks and drinking water as there are no restaurants available on the island itself.
- An important note is to never bring home any coral reefs or do anything to damage the marine life there as these are precious resources and everyone should be responsible in helping to preserve these resources.
- If you are a beginner in snorkeling or diving, there is no need to worry as the calm waters will make it easier for you to have a go at these activities. But still make sure safety comes first and take caution when needed.
- There are no commercial accommodations on the island. However, there might be local homestays should you wish to experience a local lifestyle here. Ask around and the friendly locals will be glad to help.
- Do apply sufficient sunblock and sunscreen to avoid sunburn as it is almost always sunny at the island.
- Be aware that visitors are expected to pay an environmental maintenance service tax to the local government there and foreign visitors’ fees can double in amount.
- Environmental Maintenance Service Tax will cost IDR 500,000 for locals and IDR 1,000,000 for foreigners.
